Liverpool Owners FSG Prepare to Invest in £2 Billion F1 Team
Fenway Sports Group (FSG), owners of Liverpool, are in talks to purchase the F1 team Cadillac for over £2 billion.
Liverpool Echo FSG, with a history of sports investments, has been negotiating to acquire a majority stake in the F1 team Cadillac, which is co-owned by General Motors and Mark Walter's TWG Global. This share sale comes amid allegations of insurance fraud that TWG has denied. After FSG sold a 38 percent stake in Liverpool to a group led by Jeff Bezos, they are now looking to invest in other sports.
Cadillac entered the F1 scene just last year and has begun generating excitement with renowned drivers such as Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas. Although the team incurs high costs and is likely to finish the season in last place, the financial outlay in sports remains valuable due to commercial growth.
While the investment in F1 may coincide with changes at Liverpool, this remains to be seen. Amit Bhatia, one of the new investors, stated, "Being involved with the greatest football club in the world is a tremendous honour."
