Liverpool Have Advantage in Signing Araujo from Barcelona
Liverpool have the opportunity to sign Ronald Araujo for £47 million, but must await the player's response.
Liverpool Echo Ronald Araujo, the Uruguayan defender who joined Liverpool on loan this season, appears to have a strong chance of making a permanent move from Barcelona. The deal includes a clause that allows Liverpool to buy him for £47 million.
So far, Araujo has played 14 matches for Liverpool and has demonstrated his ability to perform both as a right-back and a centre-back, providing the team with defensive stability that has been crucial in securing several victories.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are looking for a new defender, with reports suggesting they are interested in signing Castello Lukeba from RB Leipzig. If Barcelona decide to sign Lukeba, it could increase the likelihood of Araujo moving to Liverpool, should the club choose to activate the purchase clause this summer or in January.
Araujo did not feature in Liverpool's defeat to Fenerbahce in the UEFA Champions League earlier this week, but he is expected to return for the Premier League match against Crystal Palace this weekend.
